Co-Founder & Managing Director
John DeLoche is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Pilot Growth Equity and is based in San Francisco. John has more than 23 years of experience in technology investing and technology-related finance. John has invested in many leading technology companies in the SaaS, Internet, healthcare IT and cyber security sectors, and he currently serves on the boards of Bizzabo, CB Insights and Metabiota. John is also involved in the fund’s investments in Perthera, r4 Technologies, Velocidi and Webgility (board observer).
Some of John’s previous investments include Counsyl (acquired by Myriad Genetics), Zenedge (acquired by Oracle), Proofpoint (Nasdaq: PFPT), Jasper (Acquired by Cisco), C-Legal (acquired by Ernst & Young), Open Silicon (acquired by Bank Alkhair), NeoNova Holdings (acquired by NRTC) and Plum, Inc (acquired by Campbell Soup Company). Additionally, John has advised technology entrepreneurs and leading global technology companies on over 100 M&A and financing transactions totaling more than $25 billion.
Prior to Pilot Growth Equity, John was the Founder of Bluebird Capital LLC, an investment and advisory firm in San Francisco that invests in and advises growth-stage bootstrapped technology companies. Prior to Bluebird, John was a Principal at Bridgescale Partners, a Menlo Park-based growth equity firm, where he completed many investments in leading technology companies. John began his career as a founding member of Credit Suisse First Boston’s Technology Group, where he focused on technology mergers, acquisitions and financings and worked in the firm’s New York, Tokyo and Palo Alto offices. While in Tokyo, John built the firm’s cross border technology M&A business in Japan.
John was previously an officer in the US Army Reserve Signal Corps, which develops, tests and manages communications and information systems for the combined armed forces. John speaks Japanese and German, and he earned an AB with honors from the University of Chicago.
