William Nettles is a Strategic Business Development Advisor with Pilot Growth Equity. Mr. Nettles played a key role in Pilot Growth’s investment in Counsyl and is also an investor in CB Insights, Metabiota, Perthera and Zenedge.

William Nettles is also the Chief of Strategy for AMP Americas, which is the distribution arm to the Americas for AMP Inc., which is a leading global provider of point of sale credit card processing solutions.

From 2013 to 2015, Mr. Nettles worked for Pan African Investment Company (“PIC”) which served as a private investment vehicle backed by Ronald Lauder and Richard Parsons. PIC’s mandate was to find strategic investments across the continent of Africa with the purpose of making an impact and achieving a successful financial return. Mr. Nettles was responsible for advising the CEO of PIC and for leading direct investment activities for the fund. Mr. Nettles led and completed two transactions while at PIC – one was a minority investment into Bridge International Academy – a for profit business that provides private school education to the poorest kids in rural parts of Africa and secondly, Mobius Motors which is the first indigenous African car manufacturer.

Prior to PIC, Mr. Nettles worked for ten years at Verifone, the leading global provider of point of sale credit card processing solutions. Mr. Nettles’ most recent role at Verifone was as Vice President & GM, Middle East and Africa, where he was responsible for all strategic activities within the region including sales, marketing, support, acquisitions and strategic investments.

Prior to that role, he served as Vice President and Head of corporate development and investor relations, responsible for all strategic activities of the entire company, including financings, acquisitions, investments and investor communications with the Wall Street investment community.

Prior to joining VeriFone, Mr. Nettles worked for Credit Suisse First Boston for four years in New York and London where he was a generalist investment banker, followed by four years at Terra Lycos, where he was responsible for corporate development, business development and general management activities.

Mr. Nettles attended the University of California at Berkeley and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis on finance and marketing.
